Artist Profile/Statement

Born 1953 Great Falls, Montana

I have always loved and have had a need to create art. My best memories from childhood would be the room length chalk murals in grade school that I would spend my recesses inside drawing the outlines for; enabling some of the other kids to color them in later. Through independent study of impressionists like Van Gogh and Monet, my work continues to evolve; also by trial and error and the pure love of painting for over the past 35 years. For more than 25 years I worked exclusively with watercolor. Most recently I have been painting with oils. The medium however, is not as paramount as the process. I am very committed to my work; it is what defines me and drives me. What really excites me is the way the sunlight falls on an object or scene, it triggers a feeling in me that I just can't resist painting.
